Anita Wanda “Red” Rogers, age 86, died April 21, 2016 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal, KS. She was born July 3, 1929 in Hickory, OK, the daughter of Brent Henry and Minnie (Wallace) Whitsett.

She graduated from Hickory High School in 1946. She had been a resident of Liberal for 51 years.

She was the owner and operator of Anita’s Café #1, on W. Pancake Blvd. and Anita’s Café #2 on E. Pancake Blvd. She also owned and operated Red’s House of Beauty Shop.

She served as a dispatcher for the Liberal Police Department and supervisor of the first joint Liberal/Seward County Communications Center, organized in 1989. She retired in 1999 with 20 years of service.

She was member of the Kansas Peace Officers Association and she attended the Church of Christ.



She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 Son James Leslie McMahan, 1 Brother Ben Whitsett and 1 Sister Edena Hickman.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel with Minister David Rine, Western Avenue Church of Christ, presiding. Burial will be in the Liberal Cemetery, Liberal, KS.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday with the family present from 7:00-8:00 at Brenneman Funeral Home to greet friends.
