Sybil Jane Cobb Whetherholt, 90, of Pocatalico passed away January 14, 2007, at her home where she had resided since 1950.
She was born August 17, 1916, at Belgrove, Jackson County, and was the daughter of the late Harley Bennett Cobb and Clora Casto Cobb. She was a 1936 graduate of Sissonville High School, a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star, and a charter member of the Sissonville Women's Club. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by: her loving husband of 60 years, Selba Sattis Whetherholt; sisters, Opal Taylor, Mabel Young, and Myrtle Gibson; and brothers, Carl, and Clair Cobb.
Surviving: daughters and their husbands, grandchildren and their spouses, and great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, at Long & Fisher Funeral Home, Sissonville, with the Rev. Terry Deane officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
