Rev. Harry Imlay, age 79, of Story City, IA, passed away on Wednesday, Apr 20, 2016, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA.

Rev. Harry L. Imlay was born on April 12, 1937 in Jewell, IA. He was the eldest of three children born to Harry P. and Leota (Harrah) Imlay.

He lived most of his growing up years in Jewell where he received his education in the Jewell Public School. He graduated high school with the Class of 1954. After high school he began working for Northwestern Bell Telephone.

In 1956 Harry was united in marriage to Lois Rasmussen in the E.U.B. Church in Radcliffe. They started their lives in Jewell and moved many, many times throughout their lives. He retired from Northwestern Bell in 1986 and took the call to be a pastor in the Methodist Church. He served in Oxford, Hubbard, Riverside United Methodist in Fort Dodge, and his last post was in Geneva. He retired for the final time in 2013.

Harry enjoyed the great outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting and traveling. He favorite time was time spent with his grandkids.

Harry made a point to involve himself in the churches and communities he lived in. He joined the civic organizations of various types and acted as Sunday school teacher, youth leader and attended and lead Bible studies.

Harry was called to meet his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.

Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife Lois of Story City; three daughters Kristie (Bill) Conroy of Jacksonville Beach, FL, Kathie (Brian) St. Mary of Eden Prairie, MN, and Merrie (Jim) Frentress of Clive; two sons Scott of Radcliffe and Lonnie (Kathleen) of Colorado Springs, CO; eleven grandchildren; two sisters Harriet Howard of Portland, OR and Joyce (Luke) Frazier of Crawfordville, FL; along with many other relatives and friends.

Harry was preceded in death his parents.
