Judith “Judy” Eilene Ingleston, 72, of Frankfort, passed away peacefully April 22, 2015, at her home in Benzonia. She was with her family.

Judy was born in Frankfort on November 6, 1943, to Marcus and Britt Dyrdal. Raised on a farm with her brothers Olaf and Roy and her sister Mary Ann, she learned the value of love, family, hard work, and the importance of a good sense of humor.

Judy graduated Frankfort High School in 1962, eventually becoming a bank teller at the Central State Bank in Beulah. There, she caught the eye of a “Bad Boy” who worked at the A&P Grocery in Beulah. The “Bad Boy” proved to not be so bad and true love blossomed. She married Wayne Ingleston June 6, 1964. They would raise two sons, Kevin and Kyle. Judy and Wayne were both caring and involved parents The next few years were school events, baseball, basketball, and Cub Scouts. She earned a District Award of Merit for her work as a Den Mother and Round Table leader.

Judy had so many positive qualities, but her best was her incredible capacity for love and caring. In 1975, she started the job she was made for, a parapro at Crystal Lake Elementary. During her 30 plus year career there, she made many friends. More importantly, thousands of kids received her love, caring, and hugs. Nobody got away from Judy without a hug! She would discount the impact she had on so many, but the truth was obvious. Years after they left Crystal Lake, “her kids” would stop her anywhere she went to visit with her and get a hug. One person can make a difference; Judy is proof of that. Family was first. Judy’s favorite thing was to spend time with her family, especially her grandsons Calvin and Jake. Whatever those two were involved in, you could find Judy and Wayne there cheering them on. She also treasured her visits with her grandniece Ali. The more family and friends she could gather around the kitchen table, the happier she was.

Judy was preceded in death by her youngest son, Kip Ingleston, born prematurely; her parents Marcus and Britt Dyrdal; her sister, Mary Ann Johnson; and her brother Olaf (Nancy) Dyrdal.

Judy is survived by her husband, Wayne Ingleston; her sons Kevin (Joanne) Ingleston and Kyle Ingleston; her grandsons, Calvin and Jake Ingleston; her brother, Roy (Betsy) Dyrdal; and her dog Bandit.

Her family wants to especially thank all the family and friends who supported Judy along the way, especially her friend Dee Lathwell, her steadfast best friend. The family also thanks the folks at Munson Hospice who helped guide us through this difficult time. Judy loved them all and as long as she was able, none of them left without a hug. Super special thanks to Heidi who, whether she likes it or not, we consider family.

A celebration of Judy’s life will be held from 1-3 PM, Saturday, April 30, 2016, at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah. Donations may be made to the Crystal Lake Elementary PTO, in care of the Benzie County Central Schools business office, 9222 Homestead Road, Benzonia, Michigan 49616.

The Bennett-Barz Funeral Home, in Beulah, is in charge of arrangements.
