MRS. ELIZABETH STAGGERS DIES AT AGE OF 87 YEARS
Venerable Lady Had Resided in Garrett Since 1890.


The death of Mrs. Elizabeth Staggers took place Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock at her home. 212 South Peters street.

Mrs. Staggers was eighty-seven years of age and had been in ill health for some time. She was not attended by a physician and an inquest was held over her body by Coroner John R. Clark of Auburn. He decided that death was due to heart disease.

The aged lady was born in Green county, Pa., April 16, 1842, and had been a resident of Garrett since 1890, coming here from Newark, O. She and J. P. Staggers were married in 1866 and he died in Garrett in 1901.

Surviving are two children, Mrs. J. W. Hoggs of Houston, Tex.. and Harry Staggers, who resided with his mother. There are also four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mre. Staggers was a member of the Methodist church in Pennsylvania.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the George W. Iler chapel. the Rev. Burl M. Bechdolt of the M. E. church officiating. Interment was made in Calvary.
