Mr. Sigmund V. "Ziggy" Westad, 87, of New Bern, died July 21, 2010 at CarolinaEast Medical Center. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the South Pacific.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Helga and Marie Westad and a brother, Ralph Westad.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Greenleaf Memorial Park Lakeside Chapel with the Rev. J.R. Clark officiating.
He is survived by special friends, Pete, Ralph and Elinore, Mike, Leo, Shirley, Paul and Linda.
Memorials may be made to the Craven County Animal Shelter.
