They made their home on the farm and raised three sons. Don retired from farming in 2002, but then worked as a crop adjuster for two years. Don and Delores moved to Aberdeen in 2013.

Don was a past member of Peace Lutheran Church in rural Hecla where he was baptized and confirmed as a child and later served in various offices. After moving to Aberdeen, he became a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He had served on the Liberty Township Board and later the Brown County FSA Board. Don enjoyed refinishing antique furniture and also built new furniture.

Grateful for having shared Don’s life are his wife, Delores; sons: Jay Widstrom, Jess (Amber) Widstrom and Jordan (Kendra) Widstrom; six grandchildren; and sister Dorothy Lower.
