Glen William Vandine Sr., 78, of Lead, died Sunday, October 8, 2006 at the Lead-Deadwood Regional Hospital.
He was preceded in death by one brother, George Warren Vandine, of Lead; one sister, Barbara Hale of Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Cynthia Darlene Vandine, of Lead; one granddaughter, Michelle Vandine, of Phoenix, AZ; and two great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma Marie Vandine, of Lead; four children, Mickie Jean Gifford, of Lead; Jacqulyn Joyce, of Alliance, NE; Glenn William Vandine, Jr. of Libby, MT; and George Wynn Vandine, of Spearfish. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, including (but surely not limited to) one very special granddaughter, Rebecca Marie Vandine, of Rapid City.
He had a very full, and happy life. He served his country in both World War II and Korea (Navy). He worked for Homestake Gold Mine for 42 years as both a laborer and sift boss. He was a good father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and will be missed.
Graveside Services will be held at Mount Lawn Cemetery on Thursday October 12, 2006. Aldinger Funeral Home in Spearfish is in charge of arrangements.
