Chief Warrant Officer II Jason Arrowood survived a 10-year career in the U.S. Army. He had parachuted from airplanes, and more recently finished helicopter pilot training. He completed three combat tours in the Middle East against the Taliban and al-Qaeda. He was decorated with the Bronze Star and 15 other badges for service. He would never tell you about the medals. He didn't think it was a big deal. When he got home, Arrowood bought a Yamaha, a fuel-injected 599cc racer. he played football and baseball at Avon Park High School. One day, he came home and announced he didn't have the discipline to succeed in college, so he joined the Army out of high school and he excelled at it. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Avon Park, he had completed Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non Commissioned Officers Course, Warrant Officer Candidate School, Initial Entry Rotary Wing Course, Air Assault School, Basic Navigation Course, Oh-58D Course-Flight School 21, Aviation Warrant Officer Basic Course W/Sere Level B Qualification, Army Chemical School, United States Army Basic Recruiting School, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) Basic Qualification Training Course, he has received several badges and medals, Canadian Parachutist Badge, 1 Bronze Star, 2 Air Medals, 2 Army Commendation Medals, 1 Achievement Medal, 2 Good Conduct Medals, 1 National Defense Ribbon, 1 Iraqi Campaign, 1 Global War on Terrorism Ribbon, 2 Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbons, 1 Army Service medal, Combat Action Badge, Airborne Badge Air Assault Badge. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Edna London and maternal grandfather, Henry Bird. Jason was killed after wrecking his motorcycle. He was 28.
