B. Stowers Funeral Set For Sunday

Funeral services for A.T. "Buddy" Stowers, 77, of Friona are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 1998, at First Baptist Church in Friona. Rev. Charles Broadhurst of Amarillo, former pastor, will officiate.

Burial will be in Friona Cemetery under direction of Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home.

A military ceremony will be conducted at the cemetery by the Cannon Air Force Base Honor Guard.

Mr. Stowers died Wednesday, June 10, at Baptist St. Anthony's West Hospital in Amarillo.

He was born November 7, 1920 in Waco, Texas. He married Katie Stevick November 3, 1945. She died July 22, 1974. He married Hazel L. Guinn on February 21, 1976, in Friona.

He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Friona. He had lived in Friona since 1937 moving from Memphis, Texas. He owned and operated Stowers Ditching, retiring in 1978.

He was a member of American Legion, VFW, and DAV. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife Hazel L. Stowers of Friona; two sons, Jackie Lee Stowers of Corpus Christi and Kenneth Stowers of Canyon; two daughters, Helen Gerner of Post, Tx., and Sharon McCormick of Pampa.

One step-daughter, Carolin Reeve of Friona; two brothers, Sam of Corona, California and Hershel of Garden Grove, California; one sister, Dorothy Fay Dension of Corona, California; 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Friona EMS or Friona Volunteer Fire Department.
