Samuel Barnes raised his family in Trout River .Some say he was a very cruel man and was cruel to his wives and children. He was married 3 times. No record as of yet to how his first 2 wives died but it was common at this time in Newfoundland that many women died either in childbirth or from complications of childbirth. Maybe this was the fate of them.
