Nathan “Jack” Hamrick, former owner and operator of Soundtown Stereo in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, passed away at his residence after a long battle with cancer on Monday, April 18, 2016.
Mr. Hamrick was born in Renick, West Virginia. He and his parents moved to Baltimore, Maryland when he was a child. He married his high school sweetheart in 1952. He joined the United States Air Force and served from 1952 – 1956. While in the Air Force, he was an airplane mechanic. He and his wife decided to move to Tennessee to get away from the “rat race.” He wanted to own a farm. He enjoyed growing crops and raising animals but it did not pay the bills. He went back to work repairing car radios and home stereos. He opened his own repair shop (Soundtown Stereo) in 1981. He retired and closed his business in 1997. Even after he retired, he was often asked if he still worked on stereos.
The family will visit with friends on Monday, April 25, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. A memorial service will follow in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant at 4:00 p.m.
Mr. Hamrick was preceded in death by his parents Hallie Ellen Brown Hamrick and Moffet Kruger Hamrick.
