Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Perry Funeral Chapel for Marvin Acker, 78, Route 2, Centre, who died Tuesday, August 23, 1994. The Revs. Bill Hudgins and Leon Smith will officiate. Burial in Cherokee Memory Gardens. Perry Funeral Home, Centre, is in charge.
Mr Acker was a native of Cherokee County and a retired farmer. He was of the Baptist faith and was the son of the late J.L. and Onie Mae Lambert Acker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrline Ingram Acker, 1988.
He is survived by his daughters, Karen Bradley, Centre, and Shelba Jean (Edward) Johns, Hokes Bluff; grandsons, Bron Bradley, Sammy, James and Tom Johns; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will accept flowers or memorials may be made to favorite charity or church.
Pallbearers will be Herbert Acker, John Carl Whorton, Bobby Peek, R.W. Baker, Tom Brock Jordan, Farrell Langston and Nick McMichen.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Byron Nelson, employees of Cherokee Baptist Medical Center, Gadsden Regional Medical Center and Cherokee Baptist Medical Center's Home Health Care.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening.
