JAMES THOMAS TRUE PASSED AWAY SUNDAY AT HIS HOME WEST OF TOWN. FUNERAL HELD TUESDAY AFTERNOON.
James Thomas True died at his home west of town Sunday evening, November 12, 1916, of pneumonia. He had been ill for some time past and with the added burden of age, he was unable to combat the disease.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Church. Rev. O. Suver officiated. He was laid to rest in Hill Lake cemetery.
Mr. True was born in Indiana on May 4, 1851 and, at the time of his death, was 65 years, 6 months and 8 days of age.
In 1854 the family moved to Iowa where they lived until 1868. At the age of 17 young James emigrated to South Dakota where he lived until 1912. On September 14, 1868 he was married to Mary M. Williams, of Canton. To this union six children were born, five of whom are living: Emma A. and Pliny R. of South Dakota, William H., Julia G. and Florence I. Besides these he is survived by his wife, 13 grandchildren, 3 brothers and two sisters.
Mr. True was a hard worker as is evidenced by the good start he made toward developing a farm.
The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family in their time of sorrow.
