J. L. Patman, Election Board Official, Dies

John L. Patman, 1208 West Warren, secretary of the Canadian county election board and an El Reno floor finishing contractor, died Friday morning in Park View hospital following a several months illness.

Mr. Patman, who had been election board secretary since 1942, was born at Sulphur Springs, Tex., Oct. 16, 1886. He came to El Reno from Chickasha in 1914.

He was a member of the First Christian church, the Elks lodge, Eagles lodge, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, in which he was a past noble grand; the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, local 1431, which he had served as business agent, and the El Reno Chamber of Commerce. He had served as vice president of the Oklahoma State Council of Carpenters.

Survivors include his son, John L. Patman, Jr., 1208 West Warren, and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p. m. Monday in the First Christian church with the Rev. C. Reese Porter, minister, officiating.

Burial was in the El Reno cemetery under direction of the Benson funeral home.
