Anna Wilhelmine Koppelman was the daughter of Prussian immigrants, Baltimore shoemaker Louis Ernst Schaub (1838-1902) and Louisa Holzen Schaub (1843-1933). She married the son of a Baltimore County market gardener (truck farmer), John Harman Koppelman, when she was just 16, in 1884. A family story says that they met at a church picnic when she was visiting farm relations in the neighborhood. Despite being raised in the city, she became a hard-working farm wife, and bore her husband eight children. She died suddenly at the summer cottage on Sue Creek, Middle River, which she bought with her son William Herman Koppelman around 1929.
