Adda E. Horton, 93, formerly of Clarion, died Friday, April 23, 2004,at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville, where she had been a resident.
Born Oct. 19, 1910, in Foxburg, she was a daughter of William and Hanna (Tonks) Reed. Mrs. Horton graduated from Foxburg High School, where she was valedictorian of her class. She was a member of the Episcopal Memorial Church of Our Father in Foxburg. She was a telephone operator before her marriage and also worked many years with her husband and two sons in the business of Walter J. Horton and Associates. She loved to crochet and made many beautiful things for herself and family.
She was married Dec. 28, 1938, to Walter J. Horton who preceded her in death.Surviving are three sons, Edward Horton and wife, Susan, of Clarion,James W. Horton Jr. and wife, Particia, of Avon Lake, Ohio, and Gary Horton of Clarion; a daughter, Linda (Horton) Houser and husband,
David, of Clarion; six grandchildren, Daniel Hauser and wife, Penny,of Delaware, Lisa (Hauser) Prodan and husband, Christopher, of Georgia, Lori (Houser) Colwell and husband, Kevin, of Texas, James and Kimberly Horton of Ohio, Kathy Horton of Illinois; three step-grandchildren, Timothy Fiscus of Vermont, Brian Fiscus and wife, Debbie, and Matthew Fiscus and wife, Diana, all of Pennsylvania; two great-grandchildren, Tia Horton of Ohio and Tyler Horton of Illinois; four step-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Margaret and Muriel Reed of Clarion, Gloria Burns of Shippenville, and Marilyn Reed of Foxburg; a brother, Richard Reed of Pleasantville; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, David Hauser Jr.; three sisters, Alice Murray, Gertrude Frost and Clara Gardner; and a brother, William Reed.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Goble Funeral Home, Clarion, and from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Rick Harry officiating.
Interment will follow in Clarion Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the Clarion-Forest VNA
Hospice, McKinley Health Center in Brookville or the First United Methodist Church, Clarion.
