Gilbert Jennings Meadows, 95 of Narrows, passed away Thursday, April 28th, 2016.

He was born in Willowton, West Virginia on December 26th, 1920, and was the son of the late Helen Meadows McDilda. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Blankenship Meadows; several half-brothers, and a half-sister.

Since 1945, he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and a longtime member of Woodland Street Baptist Church in Narrows.

Left to cherish his memory are a son, Robert Lee Meadows, Sr. and Mitzi Robertson of Narrows; two grandsons, Robert Lee Meadows, Jr. and wife Deborah of Williamsburg, and Michael Meadows of Bayonne, New Jersey; two great-grandchildren, Shane and Katherine Leigh Meadows; two great-great grandchildren, Clay and Robert; one half-sister, Alice Hogg of Atlanta, Georgia; special neighbors, John and Darlene Atkins, and Bill and Carolyn Smith, all of Narrows; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends, including his canine companion, Sandy.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, May 1st, 2016 at 2 PM at Fairview Cemetery in Narrows.
