Dr. William Larry Ziglar, a noted historian whose work with NASA in documenting and recording the history of the space program earned him the prized Goddard Medal, passed away peacefully in hospice care on March 15, 2016. A native of Pascagoula, Mississippi, Dr. Ziglar received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Mississippi College, Clinton, MS. He received his PhD of Philosophy from the University of Maine, Orono, ME. Dr. Ziglar was an ordained Baptist Minister. Among Dr. Ziglar's many accomplishments and awards for his academic and scholarly pursuits was a Fulbright Scholarship. He spent a year teaching in Norway as a Fulbright Scholar. This is also where he and his wife developed their lifelong passion for cross country skiing. For many years, Dr. Ziglar was a professor of history at then Eastern College in St. Davids, PA moving up to Chair of American History and then Vice President of Academic Affairs. After that he served as Provost of Wingate College in Wingate, NC. Although he was involved in academic administration and scholarly pursuits, Dr. Ziglar's first love in his career was classroom teaching and nurturing the intellectual curiosity of his students. Upon his retirement from teaching at the university level, Dr. Ziglar brought his inspirational teaching skills to the high school level at Penncrest High School in Media, PA. While there he won the Christa McAuliffe National Reach for the Stars Award for excellence in teaching which empowered him to create not only the school's first social studies honor society but to establish the first Model UN program as well. Dr. Ziglar authored numerous articles and delivered lectures in many venues over the years. He was listed in the Guinness Book of Records for delivering the longest continuous lecture on the U.S. Constitution, which lasted 30 continuous hours.
