Clara E. Abare, 99, born and educated in Mooers Forks, was the daughter of the late Archie and Louise Meseck Longtin. She moved to Cohoes in 1941 and then to Waterford in 1981. Clara would have celebrated her 100th birthday on April 19 of this year. Clara was retired from Swan Knit in Cohoes where she was employed for 10 years. Prior to that, she worked at the former Ogden Mills. She was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union of America. She was a former member of the Cohoes Columbiettes. She was the widow of the late Leo Abare and the mother of the late Carolyn Chicoine and Geraldine Bousquet. She is the sister of Lydia Kup of St. Mary's, Ohio, Gloria Aubrey of Rouses Point, Gail Therien of Guilderland. Clara is also predeceased by 10 other siblings. Six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
