Lois Evelyn Behne (nee Patton), a resident of Amherst, passed away Sunday morning, December 16, 2001 at University Hospital, Cleveland after a brief illness.
Born in Frizzelburge, PA, she was raised in Florida and eastern Ohio. She has been a resident of Amherst for 21 years.
She was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lorain where she served on the Altar Guild, the Prayer Chain, and assisted with Treasurer duties. Lois also volunteered at Community Health Partners for ten years and enjoyed working with community outreach programs.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Neil Joseph Behne; sons Richard "Rick" Behne of Stow, and David Behne of Amherst; a daughter Sandy Kilgensmith of Parma Heights; five granchildren; and one greatgranddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her mother Margaret Ruth (nee Hunt) Patton; and a sister Dorothy Peluso.
Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave.; Amherst. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. from the Zion Lutheran Church; 5100 Ashland Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Kevin K. Saylor, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
