Max Lewis, 86 years of age of the Slate Creek area of Grundy, Virginia passed
Away May 1st 2016 at his home following an extended illness.
Born January 14, 1930 in Jenkins, Kentucky, he was the son of the late
George M. and Letha M. Honaker Lewis. He was a member of the Vansant
Church of Christ and was retired from Ashland Oil Company after 44 Years.
He had served as the Buchanan County Supervisor for North Grundy District
for several terms, served as Buchanan County Treasurer and also served
on the Board of the Virginia Division of Gas and Oil. Max served as an honorable
Order of Kentucky Colonels. He was a graduate of Grundy High School. Was a
Devoted husband and loving father.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Chester Lewis,
one twin sister Maxine Lewis Morgan and one nephew Jerry Vandyke and
Brother in law Memphis “Shorty” Vandyke.
