Lorraine Louise Albrecht, 90, of Mizpah, Minnesota died on May 2, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society, Blackduck, Minnesota.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Northome, Minnesota with Rev. Thomas Galarneault officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral mass at the church. Burial will be at the Forest Grove Cemetery, Mizpah, MN. A gathering will be held at the Mizpah Community Center following the burial.

Lorraine was born on September 4, 1925 in Baudette, Minnesota, the daughter of Fabian and Mae (Maguire) LaValla. She was raised and attended school in Williams, Minnesota, graduating from Williams High School in 1942. Her first job was at Zippel Bay Resort.

She married Charles Albrecht in 1945 in Williams, MN, just before he enlisted during WWII. They farmed in Buckman, MN for a few years before moving to farm in Williams. In 1952 they bought a farm in Mizpah and she has resided there since. She stayed busy helping with the farm, milking cows, raising chickens, homemaking and raising eight children. She always had a big garden, canned, made sausage, and held an annual spring potato dumpling gathering of family.

She worked various jobs over the years including waitressing at the Pine Grove Dance Hall. She tied fishing jigs for sale in the 70’s, worked at Northome City Hall for a few years, and worked at Northome IGA, where she ended up being the baker and ran the bakery there. She worked at the Northome Health Care Center in housekeeping for a number of years. She volunteered at the Northome School in the grandma mentor program. She was a member of the Northome VFW Auxiliary, St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and its ladies aid. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning. She loved to play cards, feed the birds, do embroidery, and make kid's blankets for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her six children, Michael (Rita) Albrecht of Bemidji, MN, Myron (Jackie) Albrecht of Mizpah, MN, Gerald (Judy) Albrecht of Mizpah, Agnes (Bruce) Swanson of Kelliher, MN, Scott (Darlys) Albrecht of Mizpah, and Angela (Wally) Swanson of Kelliher; 25 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; one great great grandson; daughter in law, Sharon Albrecht of Northome, MN; 3 brothers, Johnny LaValla of Arizona; Roger (Cindy) LaValla of Detroit, MI, and Steven (Kim) LaValla of Williams, MN; five sisters, Olive Dawley of Washington, Barb (Robert) Heaton of Portland, OR, Gloria Baade of Baudette, MN, Cece (Richard) Norton of International Falls, MN, and Shirley Bannert of Warroad, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles in 1999; her parents; three sons, infant Joseph Albrecht, Charles "Junior" Albrecht, and Douglas Allan Albrecht; two sisters, Lois Boomgaarden, and Marie Palm; and one brother, David LaValla.

He was married to Mae LaValla (25) born about 1905 in Minnesota. Children: David (5), Lorraine (4), Olive (2), and Marie (5 months). Living with them was Fabian's widowed mother Josephine LaValla (62) born about 1868 in Minnesota. Fabian's single brother also lived with them - Joseph LaValla (45) born about 1885 in Minnesota.
