Roger L. Abel, age 101, of Elyria, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 1, 2016.
He was born in Princeton, Illinois and had been a resident of Elyria since 2006, moving from North Ridgeville.
Roger served in the US Army during WWII.
He worked as a machine buffer for General Motors Fisher Body in Elyria for 31 years, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of United Auto Workers Union.
A devoted gardener, nutritionist and practitioner of natural medicine. He enjoyed science, mechanics and the outdoors.
He is fondly remembered and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his grandchildren Cathryn Abel O‘Malley of Scottsdale, Arizona, Timothy Abel of Atlanta, Georgia, Alec Abel of Cleveland; great-grandchildren, Rohan and Bridget O’Malley; siblings, Max Abel of Tennessee, Cozette and Genevieve Zitone both of Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez (Peggy) Abel in 2003; son, LeRoy Abel in 2010; parents, Arthur and Bertha Abel; brothers, Arthur and Robert Abel.
Friends may call Thursday from 10AM until the time of services at 11AM at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Rev. Alan Jenkins will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
