John M. Peel


John M. "Jack" Peel, 82, 1134 E. Center St., Mahanoy City, died Thursday evening at Shenandoah Manor Nursing Center.

Born in Mahanoy City, he was a son of the late Michael Peel and Mary Kurtz. He lived his whole life in Mahanoy City.

A coal miner by trade, he last worked in the St. Nicholas breaker.

He served in the Army in World War II as a combat engineer.

He attended St. Canicus Roman Catholic Church, Mahanoy City, Park Crest Fish & Game and American Legion Post 74, Mahanoy City.

He was married to the former Josephine Jadosh.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Elmer and Michael Peel; a sister, Mary Macieunas, and a twin sister, Florence Zaborsky.

Surviving are a brother, George Peel; sisters, Rose Luke, Lansdale, Margaret Bernadyn, Delano, and Josephine Hylan, Mahanoy City; nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Canicus Church. Interment will be in St. Casimir Cemetery, Mahanoy City. Friends may call from 9 a.m. Tuesday at Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home, Mahanoy City.
