William Nathaniel Lott was the fourth born child of Isaac and Mary (Range) Lott's thirteen children. He spent his boyhood years growing up in Seneca County, Ohio. Then as a young man he moved to Iowa, first stopping in Polk County, and then Adair County where he met his future wife. He married Margaret Ann Thomas on October 21, 1960, date documented in the Iowa Select Marriage Records.
They lived for awhile in Kerbystown, Ohio. In 1873 he homesteaded in Butler County, Nebraska and lived there until he retired. He lived the greater part of the time with his children after the death of his wife.
His wife Margaret died in 1894 in Butler County and is buried in the Rising Sun Cemetery located two miles South of Rising City, Nebraska. Also buried in this cemetery are two infant sons; William Isaac Lott 1874-1874
Willard N. Lott 1876-1879.
William Nathaniel Lott went to live with his daughter Cora C. Golladay in Alton, Illinois in about 1900. His health began to fail about two years before his death. He died in Alton, Illinois, and his body was shipped back to Rising City, Nebraska to be buried beside his wife and two sons in the Rising Sun Cemetery.
