Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Perry Funeral Home for Mr. G.W. (G.Buck) Snead, Route 1, Centre, who died Monday, December 15, 1997. The Revs. Melvyn Salter and Henry Carter will officiate. Burial in Cherokee Memory Gardens. Perry Funeral Home is in charge.
Mr. Snead was a native of Cherokee County, son of the late George W. and Pearlena Garner Snead. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and Forney Masonic Lodge #440. Mr. Snead was a veteran of World War II and was a retired electronic supply specialist at Marshall Space Flight Center. He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Warren Snead, in 1993.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sara Payne Snead; daughter, Karen Smith; sons, Larry H. Snead and Mark A. Snead, all of Centre; sisters, Vertice Sanford, Piedmont, and Gladys Wilson, Rome; brother, Bill Snead, Silver Creek, Georgia, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Alabama Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 429, Troy, AL 36081, or a favorite charity.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 tonight.
