"Vern Wilson Edwards, 89 years of age, past away on October 27, 2003. Vern was born on April 04, 1914 in Boise, Idaho to Thomas F. Edwards and Pearl (Wilson) Edwards. Vern enjoyed working on cars, hunting, fishing and gardening; but his favorite sport was baseball - so much so that he often convinced his siblings to do his chores so that he could go off and play. In 1941 Vern married Rue La Powell of Parker, Idaho and together they had one son, Gordon Leigh Edwards. Vern grew up in north west Boise with his two sisters, Faye and Ruth and his three brothers, Ralph, Paul and Arthur. During WWII Vern had hoped to enlist in the Armed Forces but was unable to because of his age and for family reasons. Still feeling the need to do something to aid the war effort, Vern decided to put his mechanic skills to good use working on airplanes at Gowen Field Airbase.
Vern is survived by his brother Arthur and his son Gordon, as well as several nephews and nieces.
No formal memorial service is planned."
