Foster Bracken served as Private, Co. H in the 41st Reg. Pa. Vol. He mustered in 24 July 1861. He later served in Co. D, 117th Pa. Cav.

Bracken was married twice, first to Malinda Strickler on 25 March 1874. They divorced 8 May 1880. His second marriage was to Ada Foye 18 September 1882. She "left him" by 1888.

Foster Bracken was the father of four children: Edwin b. March 1875 (see 1951 PA death certificate for Edward Bracken #46418); Alfred b. May 1877 (see 1959 PA death certificate #107931); Edith b. April or May 1879; and Edna E. b. 26 January 1885.
