Alberta Bushnell, 84, a resident of the Elms Nursing Home, Macomb, and formerly of Blandinsville, died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999, at the nursing home.
She was born Aug. 16, 1914, in Baylis, to William and Zora (Ornduff) Elder. She married Wendell Bushnell on May 22, 1938, in Burlington, Iowa. He died March 16, 1987.
She is survived by one son, William of Corning, N.Y.; four grandchildren and one sister, Enid Kilgore of Bradenton, Fla.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Edward in 1974 and one daughter, Jana Watkins in 1987; one brother and four sisters.
Mrs. Bushnell had lived in Macomb, Rock Island and Blandinsville. She was a graduate of Macomb High School in 1932, Western Illinois University in 1935 and she received her master's degree in 1956. She taught in rural schools for three years and in the Blandinsville Schools from 1952-1979. She was a member of the Blandinsville Baptist Church and was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at the Blandinsville Baptist Church with the Rev. Dean Reeverts officiating. Private burial of ashes will be at Glade City Cemetery in Blandinsville at a later time.
Memorials may be made to the Blandinsville Baptist Church. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home, Blandinsville, is in charge of arrangements.
