JUNE IRENE DAVIS APPLING was born on March 28, 1927 in the farmhouse built by her Grandfather Pearson to parents, Merwin C. and Rushia M. Davis. She grew up south of Ft. Smith, Arkansas in the small towns of Bonanza and Hartford.

June was raised in the Methodist Church, accepting Jesus Christ as her savior as a girl. At the age of twelve, June began taking piano lessons. After graduating from Hartford High School, she attended a business college and began working at the Arcade Furniture Store in Ft. Smith.

June joined the Grand Avenue Methodist Church in Ft. Smith where she began playing piano for the services. One Sunday in 1949, Miles Appling of Lebanon, Missouri attended the evening worship service. A courtship soon followed, and they were married on February 26, 1950.

The newlyweds made their home in Lebanon, assuming ownership of a small grocery store. Their first son, Miles Phillip, was born in January of 1953. In September of 1954, the young family moved to Ventura, California where a second son, John David, was born in February of 1956. In the spring of 1959 the family returned to Lebanon where they purchased a grocery store on North Jefferson. They soon made White Oak Pond their church home, and in 1962 June began playing the piano and later the organ for the congregation.

June continued to play for church, weddings, funerals, and other gatherings until she and Miles moved to the home of their son and daughter-in-law in Kansas City in 2011. Music was her greatest joy behind family and friends. She filled the house of God with the sound of music as choirs and congregations joined her in praise to the Savior she loved and served. June was a committed auxiliary member of Gideon's International, placing bibles in the hands of people around the world.

The angels took June to heaven on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 4:50 PM. Phil and Linda were by her side, holding her hand. The song that was playing as she left was, "It is Well with My Soul".

June is survived by her husband of 66 years Miles Appling of Kansas City, MO; sons Miles Phillip Appling and wife Linda of Kansas City, MO and John David Appling and wife Peggy of Springfield MO; grandchildren Matt Appling and wife Cheri of Liberty, MO, Aaron Appling and wife Tanya of Kansas City, MO, Zach Appling of Springfield, MO, and Ben Appling of Springfield, MO; great Grandchildren Calder Appling of Liberty, MO and Charlotte "Charli" Appling of Kansas City, MO, as well as many other friends and relatives
