Martha was the daughter of Milford Elliott Dickerson and Pearl Mae (Tyler) Dickerson.

She was married first in 1919 to Claude Feezell. They had daughter Reba Mildred Feezell in 1922, and a premature infant son who died at or within minutes of his birth on February 9, 1923.

Martha Lena was married second on October 22, 1923 in Girard, Crawford County, Kansas to Charles Harry Hook, Jr. They had three children, daughters Erma Lois (1924-1930) and Evalina "Evelyn" (1929-2019 ), and a son John Charles (1934-2007) who was adopted shortly after his birth at Missouri State Hospital No.3 in Nevada, Vernon County, and was raised in the Kansas City, Missouri area. John Charles (Hook) Robertson's Find-A-Grave Memorial is #48981114.

Grandma Lena spent many years in the Missouri State Asylum in Nevada, Vernon County before she was transferred to the Dade County Nursing Home in Greenfield in 1968. My siblings and I first met her at the asylum in Nevada in the early 1960's. In 1982, my husband Ron and I and our children visited her in the nursing home in Greenfield. I have only two photos of Grandma Lena. One was apparently taken in the early to mid 1960's on or near the grounds of the state hospital, and the other in probably about 1968 soon after she was transferred to the Dade County Nursing Home in Greenfield.

Grandma Lena was buried near her daughter Erma Lois Hook and her Dickerson family members at Corry Cemetery in Dade County, Missouri.
