ROCHESTER -- The Mass of Christian Burial for Amanda Thomann will be at noon Friday at Notre Dame Parish-St. Joseph's Worship Center in Cresco, Iowa. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cresco.

Mrs. Thomann, 92, of Rochester, formerly of Cresco, died Tuesday (Oct. 17, 2006) at Sunrise Cottages in Rochester, where she had lived since August 2000.

Amanda Johnson was born Oct. 30, 1913, in Canoe Township, Winneshiek County, near Decorah, Iowa. She graduated from Decorah High School in 1931, received her teaching certificate and taught in rural schools in the Decorah area. On June 3, 1936, she married Raymond Thomann at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Decorah. They farmed in the Decorah area until 1948, when they moved to a farm near Cresco. She was school board secretary for Fremont No. 3 School District and was a member of the Federated Women's Club of Iowa, the Howard County (Iowa) Hospital Auxiliary and St. Joseph's Church and Rosary Society in Cresco.

Survivors include three daughters, Beverly (Robert) Von Osten of Bloomington, Minn., Margo Hoffman of Rochester and Nancy (Steven) Roozen of Lake City; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994, three brothers and five sisters.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Friday at Conway Funeral Home in Cresco.
