Martha C. Bargeloh, 69, of Parkersburg, passed away May 12, 2016, at her residence.

She was born in Weston, W.Va., a daughter of the late Chester "Bud" O. and Betty Lou Hoey Cunningham.

Her career path began as a librarian at the Carnegie (Wood County) Library, where she initiated the blind and physically handicap services. From there she went to work for Wood County Board of Education at Roosevelt Elementary School. When her children were young, she ran the preschool at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Mineral Wells. Once her children were school age, she began substituting for Wood County Schools. She went on to be the librarian at Martin School and finished her career as a librarian for 17 years at Williamstown Elementary School.

She was an active member of Stout Memorial United Methodist Church. She helped to coordinate vacation Bible schools at both Mt. Pleasant and Stout Memorial. She was active in Bible Study and Sunday School.

She enjoyed creating fence line gardens to attract birds and butterflies to her yard. She loved to create and enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting, cross stitch, and beading jewelry. She loved cooking and baking. She wrote a cookbook of favorite recipes for her children and later completed a renal cookbook. She was an avid ballroom dancer. She enjoyed reading, writing, and journaling with her children and grandchildren. She found pleasure in Saturday evening game nights which included board and card games.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Wesley Bargeloh; daughters, Beth Banks (Art) of Warrenton, Va., and Sara Gill (Ron) of Manassas Park, Va.; a son, Steve Bargeloh (Mindy) of Chandler, Ariz.; seven grandchildren, Thad, Xavier and Peyton Banks, Emily Gill, and Makenzie, Addison and Brielyn Bargeloh; a brother, Joe Cunningham of Brighton, Mich.; and a sister, Anne Haverty, of Belmont, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Cunningham.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2016, at Stout Memorial United Methodist Church, 3329 Broad St., Parkersburg, with Dr. Paul Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg.
