Marie Christina Scherner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claus Scherner was born August 2. 1877 in Drage, Schleswig Holstein, Germany. In her youth she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

She came to America in 1894 and in 1903 she was united in marriage to Charley Ackerman. A daughter was born to them in 1905 and in 1915 they adopted another daughter. They were privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in 1953.

After an illness of several weeks, Mrs. Ackerman passed away Sunday evening, August 2, on her 82nd birthday.

She leaves to mourn her husband, Charley, and two daughters, Louise (Mrs. Henry Miller) of Spencer and Edna (Mrs. Carl Hasenbank) of Akron, Iowa; two son-in-laws; six grandchildren and five great­grandchildren; two brothers, Claus, of Kingsley, Iowa and John of Holstein; three sisters, Mrs. Sofie Moritz of Remsen, Mrs. Katie Schoer of New Rock, North Dakota, and Mrs. Wiebke Jebsen of Hartley.

Four brothers, one sister and her parents preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Wednesday. Music selections were sung by Rosemary Koostra and Margaret Hirt, with Mrs. Betty Hirt as organist. Pallbearers were Eddie Jeb­sen, Harry Olhausen, Wm. Peters, John Schemer, Harold Scherner and Clarence Scherner.
