Russell Banks
David Russell Banks of Piperton, formerly of Savannah, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Eastwood Hospital in Memphis at the age of 51. A native of Hardin County, he was the son of Mary Sue Hollins Banks and the late Harvey R. Banks. He was married to the former Sandra Qualls. Mr. Banks was employed as a diesel mechanic with Waste Management, Inc., and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. Services were at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at Shackelford Chapel with Billy Allegood officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens. In addition to his wife, he leaves his mother, Mary Sue Banks of Savannah; one daughter, Tonya Sue Berryhill of Memphis; one son, Tony Banks of Piperton; four sisters, Dorothy Alexander of Scotts Hill, Jimmie Allegood and Jane Wilkerson of Savannah, and Reba Kay Ralph of Memphis; and two brothers, Danny Banks of Washington, D.C., and Donnie Banks of Coldwater, Miss.
