James E. Ashcraft, 64, Rockford, died Wed., Oct. 11, 1989, in Saint Anthony Medical Center after a sudden illness. Born Aug. 2, 1925, in Arkansas, son of Arthur and Edith Turner Ashcraft. Married May Dell Vandiver in New Madrid, MO, June 26, 1945. Employed as header operator by Rockford Products Co. 37 years, retiring in 1986. World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, May Dell; three daughters, Claudette (Charles) Thompson, May (William) Hoffman and Reva (Stan) Goettsch; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild; sister, Mildred (Leon) Files; two brothers, Ernest and Linn Ashcraft. Predeceased by parents; daughter, Virginia Jenkins and son, James Dell.
