Arden Orin Christianson, age 90 of New Richmond (formerly of Almena), Wisconsin passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Deerfield Presbyterian Home in New Richmond, Wisconsin. Arden was born at home on November 27, 1925 in Dovre Township. He lived there until he joined the Navy in 1946. Arden, or Chris as he was called by his friends, was a veteran of the Korean War where he was awarded several citations as a Navy Air Crewman. After ten years of service as an Aviation Structural Mechanic, he was honorably discharged in 1956. After the Navy, Arden trained as a heliarc welder and spent the next twelve years piping creameries around the country. It was common in conversation with Arden for him to say “I piped the creamery in that city”. As was Arden’s way, there was an endearing story to follow about the job. Arden’s dream was to farm and that dream was fulfilled when he bought a fixer upper farm near Almena, Wisconsin in 1968. Arden and Maxine successfully farmed until their retirement in 1995. In their retirement they moved to Barron, and later to New Richmond. Arden loved dancing and country western music. He loved to hunt, though it was common to find him taking a snooze at the base of a tree. Storytelling and a lively game of pinochle are what many will remember when they think of Arden. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him – family and friends alike. Arden is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Maxine Christianson of New Richmond, Wisconsin, Son Douglas (Susan) Christianson of Chetek, Wisconsin, Daughters Nickolette (Gale) Bisping of Rochester, Minnesota, Claudette Christianson of New Richmond, Wisconsin, Sandra (David) Lemke of Houston, Texas and Roxanne (Mitch) Steen of New Richmond, Wisconsin, 16 Grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren. Brother Donald (Deloris) Christianson of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Sisters Berdine Brown of Rice Lake, Wisconsin and Mary Jane Arnt of Florida. He is also survived by Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Arden was preceded in death by his Parents Oscar and Minnie Christianson, Son Greg Christianson and Sisters Ardys Berg, Alice Engstrom and Doris Amundson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 11:00 at Salem Lutheran Church at 1360 E. LaSalle Avenue in Barron, Wisconsin with Pastor Ronald Mueller officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Wayside Cemetery in Barron, Wisconsin. Arrangements are being handled by Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron, Wisconsin.
