Joseph Edmund Généreux, or "Timmy" as he called himself, was born in Fall River, Massachusetts, the last of eight children (the oldest being twenty-five years his senior!) to Tiburce & Alma (Vaillancourt) Généreux.

Like the rest of his family, he began as a clerk in his father's store. He would later work at the A&P with his brother Arthur, and later would become a salesman for the Fulton Packing Co. of Boston.

He served in the Army during World War II, in China and Burma in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.

In 1937, he married Wanda Kaminski. They had no children. He is buried with her, her mother and her brother.

Timmy was a bit eccentric, and it led to a massive falling out with his brother Arthur. One day, a mutual friend passed Arthur's house and asked him how his brother Timmy was. Arthur, not aware of his brother's nickname, insisted that he had no such brother. From then on, the two never spoke again.
