Mr. Pittman was employed as chief electrician at various area coal mines. He retired in 1966. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in West Frankfort and the Earl Cowan American Legion of West Frankfort. He was a navy veteran of World War I.
He was born Jan. 2, 1900, in Jefferson County, to Charles A. and Sarah E. Redfearn Pittman.
Survivors include his wife, the former Reathel Lee Brewer; one daughter, Shirley Ward of Peru, Ind.; three grandchildren; and one sister, Hazel Gifford of Rock Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Beulah Aiken Pittman, who died in 1976, four brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held at Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort.
