ATHENS - Lisa Renee Foerster, 55, of Athens, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 as a result of an auto accident in Vinton County, Ohio. She was born May 17, 1961 in Portland, Oregon, daughter of Edward F. Foerster of Amity, Oregon and the late Dorothy J. Barnett Foerster.
Lisa was an internationally accomplished coloratura soprano. She worked as Assistant Professor of Voice at Ohio University, and was a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, (NATS). She was passionate about her students and their learning. She was a devoted mother to Emma Caroline Hamel and Thomas Joseph Hamel and a loving sister to her 3 siblings Lori Alsterberg, Peggy Lewelling, and Jeff Foerster. Lisa was an active participant and leader with music at Christ Lutheran Church in Athens. In her spare time, she loved to crochet many gifts including baby blankets, sweaters, scarves and hats. Many considered her a dear friend as her heart was always focused on others.
In addition to being preceded in death by her mother, she was accompanied in death by her children Emma Caroline and Thomas Joseph Hamel and sister, Lorraine Ellen Alsterberg.
A memorial service for Lisa and her children, Emma and Thomas Hamel will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Christ Lutheran Church, 69 Mill St., Athens, with Pastor Lynn Miller officiating. Interment for Lisa will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Portland, Oregon. Arrangements are by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St. Nelsonville.
