Services for Margaret May Christensen Sindberg-Woodley VanderSloot, 88, will be today at 1 p.m. at the Westmond Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with burial at Westmond Cemetery. Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. VanderSloot, who was born in Hiles, Wis. died Monday.
Her mother and her twin sister both died during childbirth. She weighted only 2.5 pounds at birth.
She was adopted by Thomas and Winifred Woodley of Montana and grew up in Wyoming and Montana.
Mrs. VanderSloot attended Montana State University in Bozeman and married Peter "Frank" VanderSloot in 1936.
The couple lived in Sheridan. Wyo., and Hardin, Mont., before settling in North Idaho in 1949. They farmed in the Cocolalla area until his death in 1982.
Mrs. VanderSloot was a 4-H leader for many years and taught gardening, canning, and preserving, sewing and cooking.
She was one of the oldest students enrolled in nutrition classes at North Idaho College in the 1980s.
She reading, writing, poetry, nature and raising toy Pomeranians, poodles, Maltese and Yorkshire terriers.
She was a member of the United Church of God.
Survivors include four children, Marguetite VanderSloot of Sandpoint, Luana Hiebert of Cocoalalla, Peter VanderSloot of Mount Vernon, Wash, and Frank VanderSloot of Idaho Falls, 26 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
