Funeral services were held on Monday, April 20th, 1981, at 10 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Church in Burwell for Floyd E Ackles.
Father Edmund Placek officiated. Music was provided by Miss Anne Marie Manasil, organist.
Honorary pallbearers were Albert Bolli, Owen Moses, Glenn Johnson, Clarence Bolli, William Beat, and Gerald Larsen.
Casketbearers were Tim Dolan, Bob Peters, Mike Peters, Craig Struckman, Brad Struckman, and Mark Knoll.
Interment was at the Ord City Cemetery in Ord, Nebraska.
Arrangements were by Fleming Funeral Home in Burwell.
Floyd Ackles, 82, was born in Red Oak, Iowa, May 11, 1898. He was the son of Frank P and Mary (Lunney) Ackles. The family moved to Exeter, Nebraska when he was a small child. At the age of 18 he moved with his family to the Quiz Ranch north of Ord where he farmed for 10 years.
On June 9, 1926 he was united in marriage to Mary Struckman at Ogallala and moved to a farm near Arcadia. they lived in this area until 1941 when they moved to a ranch thirty miles north of Burwell. In 1972 he retired and they moved into Burwell where they have since resided. They spent the past two winters at Weslaco, Texas.
Mr. Ackles served for 18 years as a member of the Rodeo Telephone Board in Burwell.
Survivors include his widow, 2 sons, Don of Amelia and Larry of Burwell; three daughters, Mary Lou Dolan, Salt Lake City, Idaho, Shirley Peters of David City, Nebraska and Fae Beaumont of Broken Bow; 13 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild and one brother Franklin Ackles of Ord.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, 2 half brothers, 2 half sisters and 2 grandsons.
