Mildred Evolyn (Vinson) Davis, 87, of Gibson City made a peaceful trip to heaven on Thursday (May 19, 2016).

Mildred was born on July 20, 1928 in Arrowsmith, a daughter to Amos and Nancy (Urich) Vinson. Mildred married Glenn Davis on Nov. 9, 1946 in Saybrook. Glenn died on Nov. 14, 2014.

Surviving are her children, Stephen (Polly) Davis, John (Ruth) Davis, Robert (Janet) Davis, Gary (Sherri) Davis and Debra (Mike) Holmes; grandchildren, Jennifer (Christopher) Engel, Sarah (Jason) Peterson, Tera (Terry) Roesch, Tony (Amy) Davis and Scott (Wendy) Davis and five great-grandchildren.

Mildred was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, James; three sisters, Velma Biehl, Margorie Biehl and Gladys Nunamaker and three brothers, Lyle, Lester and Homer.

Mildred was a lifelong resident of Gibson City. While raising her children, Mildred worked at the Colonial Cleaners. She finished her working career at the Gibson City Courier in the advertising department.

Mildred was a remarkable seamstress, making clothing for all of her children. She was also an avid quilt maker, making quilts for her children and grandchildren.

Mildred and Glenn owned and operated a chicken house, raising 80,000 chickens a year for Corn Belt Hatcheries. Mildred and Glenn loved to mow yards together throughout Gibson City.

Mildred was a member of the United Methodist Church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and especially the grandchildren.
