Mildred Louise Butler was born January 19, 1923 in Conehatta, Mississippi to the late C.L. Blackburn and Pearl Mae Hammond Blackburn. She passed away peacefully May 20, 2016 at the Carriage House Assisted Living in Denton, Texas.
Mrs. Butler is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ray Lavelle Butler, brothers, Homer Blackburn and Bill Blackburn, and sisters, Earline Berry and Ossie Reed Henderson
Mildred Butler was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bastrop. She was graduate of Forest High School and attended Northeast Louisiana State College (ULM) in Monroe, Louisiana. During World War II she was employed by General Electric in Jackson, Mississippi in support of the war effort at home. She was employed for over thirty years in banking for both West Carroll National Bank and retiring from the Bank of Morehouse. Active and industrious, Mrs. Butler always seemed to find time to enjoy her hobbies of sewing, crocheting, and oil painting.
Mildred is survived by her two daughters, Jerry Louise Butler Jones and her husband, Steve Jones, Diane Butler Crew and her husband, Donald Crew, six grandchildren, Steve Jones, Jr., Amanda Jones, Laura Jones, Keith Crew, David Crew, John Crew, and eight great-grandchildren.
