Albert was the son of Benjamin Beal and his wife Maria Swift Beal. He was born (probably) at their home in Milton, Mass. He moved to San Francisco, California, where he worked as a clerk in the firm of G. B. Post & Co, a private postal firm. He died at the age of 22 of typhoid fever. As one of San Francisco's earliest settlers, he was buried at Lone Mountain Cemetery. His grave was later destroyed along with his headstone when San Francisco moved most of their cemeteries out of the city.
