Marlin P. "Woody" Woodland passed away peacefully on May 16, 2016.

Woody was born May 22, 1927 in Ogden to Thomas Clifford Woodland and Maria May Perry. He was the youngest of four boys. He graduated from Box Elder High School in 1945 and joined the U.S. Navy shortly before the end of WW II.

He returned home and attended Utah State University, where he served as Sophomore Class Vice President, Student Council Publicity Chairman, and a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was voted Outstanding Student his senior year. He graduated in 1950 with a degree in Business Administration.

He married Lorraine Hill in 1952 and they had two daughters. They later divorced and Woody married Nellee Jean Abraham Wood, a widow with four children. Two more daughters were born to their family.

Over his life, Woody worked for Husky Oil, Hercules Corporation, the LDS Church, and the University of Utah Parking Services.

Dad always considered himself a loyal Ute fan. He was also voted "Number One Fan" at Olympus High School because of his years of loyal support at their sporting events.

Dad was a lifelong member of the LDS Church, having served in various callings, including at the baptistry at the Salt Lake Temple.

Woody is survived by his eight children, Karen (Paul) West, Kathy (Scott) Hayden, Chris Rossi, James (Christine) Wood, Robert (Lisa Badger) Wood, Ruth (Tom) Metcalf, Elizabeth (Mark) Larson, and Edie (Travis) Morgan; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Duane, Orville, and Clifford; and wife, Nellee.

Our thanks to Superior Home Care & Hospice for their tender care of Woody.
