Mrs. Mary Downs Called By Death.
Mrs. Mary Downs, 421 South H Street, died at St. Luke's hospital at 9:30 a.m. Friday, following an illness of seven weeks, aged 72 years.

Mrs. Downs, who was one of the well known residents of the city, having resided here several years, had not been well for the last year. A few weeks ago she suffered a stroke of apoplexy.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at a time and place to be announced later. Rev. H.J. Cockerill, pastor of the Methodist church, will have charge of the services.

Surviving are one son, Harry Downs of this city, a sister, Mrs. Ben Rechkops of Des Moines, and three brothers, W.C. Cheney of Los Angeles, Ed Cheney of Seattle and Frank Cheney of this city. Mrs. Downs was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, and came to Kansas several years ago. Twenty years ago she and her son moved to Wellington from Belle Plaine. - Wellington News.

Mrs. Downs will be well remembered by many of our readers. She and her husband located on a farm five miles north west of this city, and resided there several years before removing to Belle Plaine, which was their home for so long a time. After Mr. Downs death Mrs. Downs and Harry moved to Wellington.
