Obituary
Barbara J. Kennedy, born Sept. 2, 1843 near Paint Lick, Garrard Co., Ky. Married Aug. 16, 1868 to James M. Taylor. To this union were born nine children, Joseph E., Elizabeth Bishop, Ida Cain, W.T., Lulu Allen, King Narron, Harry, Benjamin and Jamie. All have gone on before their mother except, Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Narron and Jamie.

From Kentucky they moved to near Decatur, Ills., in 1869 where they resided until Sept. 1, 1878 when they moved to Sumner county settling in the Palestine township, and afterwards to a farm north of Belle Plaine, where they resided until about four years ago when they moved to Merrick, Okla.

Mrs. Taylor became a member of the Church of Christ in Illinois and remained a true devoted Christian until her death. She died at Merrick, Oct. 27, 1909 at 10 o'clock in the morning. The body was brought to this city for burial Friday, Oct. 29. Funeral services were held in the Baptist church owing to the building occupied by the Church of Christ having been sold. Elder Jos. E. Cain preached the sermon.

There was a large number of old friends and acquaintances present to pay tribute to their old friend and neighbor and sympathize with the bereaved relatives. The remains were laid to rest in the Belle Plaine cemetery.
