A.E. Cecil, 90, of Eufaula, died Saturday at McAlester Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm, Tuesday at First Freewill Baptist Church in Eufaula with Rev. Ronnie Drake officiating. Music will be provided by First Freewill Baptist Choir. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Memorial Park in McAlester under the direction of Black's Funeral Home of Eufaula.
Born January 15, 1905 in Lonelm, Arkansas, he ws the son of John Emerson and Florence (Frances) Cecil. He was raised and attended school in the Lonelm area, graduating from Mulberry Hight School in 1923. He traveled a great deal, working in the oil fields and orchards in California. He owned shoe shops in Tulsa and Bristow before ging to work for Douglas Aircraft during World War II.
He retired as a draftsman in 1970 and came to eufaula and married Thelma Crews Eckman on Janurary 23, 1974 in Eufaula.
He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Eufaula and was active in the Eufaula Senior Citizens.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma, of the home; a step-daughter, Rose Mary Caldwell, Little Rock, Arkansas; a sister, Norma Irene Walker, La Puente, California; a brother, John Dow Cecil, Bridgeport, California; and three step-grandsons, Jeffrey Clanton, Conway, Arkansas, Jeremy Eckman, Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Gary Eckman of Shawnee.
Pallbearers will be Orval Carden, Kendrick Wade, Bill Olmstead, Alva Cable, J.R. Warwick and Ray Merrick.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-son, Eugene Eckman; two sisters, Regina Hunter and Essie Felker; and four brothers, Chester, Charles, T.J. and Bryan Cecil. (MillieBelle)
